Maxim Kulkov is appointed PGP’s partner in charge of the Commercial and IP Practice.
Maxim specialises in commercial and IP law, including manufacturing/supply arrangements, dis-tribution, agency, franchising, licensing, e-commerce, advertising law and consumer protection.
He has considerable expertise in drafting agreements and memoranda on various aspects of busi-ness in the motor industry, FMCG production and distribution, retail trade, telecommunications, mineral extraction and carriage, vehicle and equipment leasing and finance. He has extensive experience in domestic and international litigation and arbitration on investments, contractual disputes, IP disputes, international trade, conflicts of law, jurisdictional disputes and competition law issues.
Under Maxim’s supervision, PGP’s Commercial Practice has designed a distribution structure covering the whole of Russia for a number of well-known consumer goods corporations and has furnished several food companies with product labelling guidelines based on the legal require-ments of Russia and the CIS with respect to consumer protection and advertising. Experts of the Commercial Practice have advised one of the biggest mineral extraction companies on construc-tion investments in an amount exceeding 5 billion USD a year, as well as a leading international supplier of telecommunications equipment on its PGP-supported global bid to acquire a famous radio, telecommunications and networking equipment maker. The Commercial Practice staff have also provided consultations to the Finance Ministry of a Russian constituent entity on re-storing state ownership of a major gas pipeline held by a private company.
Maxim Kulkov’s appointment brings the company’s partners up to 9 in number, 7 of them hav-ing been with the company since its inception. The stronger position of the Commercial Practice shows that client companies have a growing need for resolving commercial law issues and busi-ness disputes.
