SJ Berwin LLP Advises British Land on Sale & Leaseback of Cable & Wireless Portfolio

European law firm SJ Berwin has advised British Land's BL Fixed Uplift Fund on the acquisition of a portfolio of 9 properties (6 in London, 2 in Birmingham and 1 in Belfast) on a sale and lease back basis from Cable & Wireless at a price of £88 million. This follows hard on the heels of the Fund’s acquisitions of two sale and leaseback portfolios of Somerfield and TGI Friday’s properties. The SJ Berwin team was led by real estate partner Michael Scott. Hugh Blaza of BrookStreet Des Roches acted for Cable & Wireless, and Rebecca Licence of Tughan & Co (for British Land) and Roger Watts of C&J Black (for Cable & Wireless) advised on the Belfast property.
