Interlaw has announced the appointment of a new partner firm in Paraguay, Peroni Sosa Tellechea Burt & Narvaja (PSTBN), marking the next phase in the elite network’s expansion in strategically important regions across the world.

Founded in 1968 and based in Asunción, PSTBN is one of the most established and well-respected firms in Paraguay. As an active member of the legal community, it has advised on several high-profile matters, including advising the Paraguayan government on development strategies, and working closely with Congress in drafting and enacting new legislation.

A full-service law firm working for both local and international clients, PSTBN has a particular specialism in advising on foreign investments and taxation matters. Several of its lawyers are recognized by organizations including Chambers & Partners and Legal500.

The firm also works across a number of other practice areas and sectors, including mergers and acquisitions, maritime and aviation, telecommunications, banking and international finance, insurance and reinsurance law, mineral and oil exploration projects, labor relations, general civil litigation, local government agencies and legislative bodies, maquila projects, franchising and licensing agreements and intellectual property matters.

Michael Pattinson, Interlaw’s Global Chair, comments: “PSTBN is one of the largest and most prestigious firms in Paraguay, so we are thrilled to welcome them to Interlaw. As well as supporting our global growth, the firm will join our established presence in the Latin America region, which is regularly recognized by Chambers & Partners for providing a top tier service to national and international clients.”

José Luis Vega Meza, partner at PSTBN, adds: “Over the past five decades, our firm has established a strong track record in working with some of the biggest businesses both in Paraguay and internationally. We are already familiar with many of Interlaw’s partner firms across our region, so we know that joining the network will enable us to provide our clients with access to some of the best legal advice across the world.”
