Interlaw featured in a recent article by The Lawyer entitled ‘Law firm networks flex their cross-border muscle’.

The article highlighted the increasing need for clients to use legal expertise in multiple jurisdictions when working on a deal and how networks are ideally placed to service these clients needs.

Chairman Michael Siebold highlighted the advantages offered by Interlaw in being able to flex to the needs of the client, with the reassuring depth of expertise wherever a client needs legal advice.

“GCs are starting to see through the ‘emperor’s new clothes’ approach from global law firms who take little more than a logo to some parts of the world," he stated. “Whereas, the elite networks offer consistent quality throughout the world.”

Michael also described how Interlaw is developing a clear understanding of clients’ needs by introducing systems to analyze big data on how work flows around the network. This has involved investment in an online digital directory with the capacity to hold more than 10 million individual data records, along with the development of a 24/7 client management and feedback system.

The article also mentioned Interlaw’s recent work for Asia-based investors Hera Capital Partners Holdings II Pte Ltd and DSG Consumer Partners II. The deal was highlighted as a case study of a deal delivered with a quick turnaround to expand a business into South East Asia, with legal services provided through a collaboration led by Colin Ng & Partners in Singapore and involving Mochtar Karuwi Komar in Indonesia, Momo-o, Matsuo & Namba in Japan and Quasha Ancheta Pena Nolasco in the Philippines.
