Internationally-renowned litigator Angela de Cespedes has been appointed chair of Interlaw's litigation group with a mission to enhance innovation and collaboration across borders for the organization’s global litigation offering.

A partner at US firm Shutts & Bowen LLP, based in Miami, Florida, Angela brings nearly two decades of litigation experience to the position and is well-known for being a pioneer of innovation in the field of dispute resolution.

Angela has built a solid and recognized reputation among the international legal community for her exceptional legal abilities, tenacity and innovative methods of incorporating social media and online content evidence in the defense and prosecution of litigation. Her appointment is the latest addition to the leadership at Interlaw following the appointment of four new board Directors.

Commenting on Angela’s appointment, Interlaw Global Chairman, Glenn Cunningham, said: "The talent and experience that Angela brings as global chair for Interlaw’s litigation group speaks for itself. In an age when the business world is moving at light speed, the legal sector is sometimes accused of moving slowly to catch up. Angela's skill coupled with her desire to innovate and lead the trends, rather than follow, is worlds apart from this stereotype and makes her exactly the type of individual we want as part of Interlaw's leadership.”

Having vast experience resolving disputes and defending businesses against allegations involving commercial disputes, premises liability, fraud, and products liability across multiple industries, Angela brings a wealth of specialist knowledge to the Interlaw leadership. She is also experienced at managing crisis situations to circumvent litigation, collecting and preserving evidence and data in the event of threatened or pending litigation, and liaising with government agencies and other third parties to minimize risk and avoid unjustified public perception.

Angela said:  "Having been part of the Interlaw global legal network for a number of years I have seen how effective it is at bringing together best in quality law firms across borders to offer a credible and cost-effective alternative to “international” law firms."

Interlaw provides a comprehensive litigation offering across 150+ jurisdictions spanning 79 countries in a range of specialties including banking, corporate, litigation and arbitration, real estate, IP, debt recovery, data privacy and eDiscovery.
