Interlaw’s strategic partner in Central America, BLP, has announced that Pablo Umaña has joined its Energy & Infrastructure and Banking & Finance practice areas as Director to oversee Infrastructure and Energy projects in Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua. He will be based in BLP's San José office. Pablo comes to BLP from Allen & Overy LLP, where he spent the past years working in their Global Projects, Energy, Natural Resources and Infrastructure group based in Washington, D.C., focused on the LatAm region.

“At BLP we are always looking to find new business opportunities for our clients, and recently we have seen a substantial growth in projects and investments coming to our region in the areas of Banking & Finance and Energy & Infrastructure,“ said BLP co-founder Luis Castro.

“We are thrilled to welcome Pablo to the team. His expertise in managing complex transactions in Energy and Infrastructure that have resulted in billions of dollars in investments and financings for the Latin American region, will offer a wealth of opportunities for our clients in Central America.”

Pablo brings more than 16 years of experience leading in cross-border transactions in Latin America and the Caribbean. His practice focuses on corporate, infrastructure, energy and multilateral-related financing in emerging markets, including infrastructure projects in energy (both conventional and renewable, in addition to energy efficiency), hospitality, transportation, agribusiness and manufacturing.

In addition to his regional experience, Pablo has been involved in and advised on transactions in the United States, Asia, and Europe, and in almost every country in Latin America.
