Interlaw’s partner firm in France, UGGC Avocats, has assisted leading French medical devices business, Innothera, in its acquisition of the Gibaud company from the Icelandic group Össur, one of the world leaders in orthopaedics.

Created in 1913, the Innothera Group is an independent, family-owned French healthcare mid-cap company. Led since 1986 by Arnaud Gobet, grandson of the founder, the group has achieved strategic diversification through sustained internal, external and international growth. Today, the organisation develops, produces, and promotes drugs and medical devices organized into five therapeutic areas: venous disease, gynaecology, nutritional deficiencies, infectious diseases and hospital hygiene.

The Gibaud company, a pioneer in orthopaedics and podiatry for 130 years, develops and distributes orthopaedic care solutions and complementary medicines for healthcare professionals, including pharmacies, orthopaedic surgeons and hospitals.

This acquisition is in line with Innothera's ambition to strengthen the group's national and international presence in the medical device market as it seeks to reach a turnover of 150 million euros by 2025.

The UGGC Avocats team advising on the corporate aspects of the transaction included partner, Ali Bougrine and associates, Louise Dombey and Muriel Bernardin, with partner, Jennifer Carrel and associate, François Marteau also advising on the employment law elements of the deal.
