A team from Pryor Cashman, Interlaw’s strategic partner in New York, has advised WHP Global on the acquisition of the Joseph Abboud trademarks from Tailored Brands.

Tailored Brands has also entered into a licensing agreement with WHP for the exclusive rights to sell and rent Joseph Abboud branded apparel and related merchandise in the United States and Canada. The designer Joseph Abboud left Tailored Brands at the end of January to pursue new opportunities in the global fashion community.

WHP Global is a New York based brand acquisition and management firm. Following the transaction, it will have over $1.4 billion in retail sales across its portfolio of brands including Anne Klein and Joseph Abboud.

Tailored Brands is a leading omni-channel specialty retailer of menswear. It will continue to own and operate the factory in New Bedford, Massachusetts, that manufactures quality U.S. made tailored clothing.

The Pryor Cashman team acting on the acquisition included partners Brad D. Rose, head of the firm’s Intellectual Property Group, John Crowe, Teresa Lee, Jeffrey Johnson, Eli Nathanson, Robert Lamonica, Philippe Zylberg and Counsel Rebecca Schmutter. Associates Eric Wisotsky and Mark Zhuang also assisted on the deal.
