Interlaw Partner Joins Two High-Level Indian Government Committees

Mr Rajiv K Luthra the founder and managing partner of L&L Partners, Interlaw's strategic partner in India, has been appointed as member of two high-profile committees constituted by the Indian government.

Mr Luthra has been selected to join to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs’ High Level Committee on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of Mr Injeti Srinivas, Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs to review the existing framework and guide and formulate the roadmap for a coherent government policy on CSR.

Mr Luthra enjoys a position of exclusivity, being the only leading private practice lawyer on this committee. Some of the other industry heavy-weights on this committee include Mr N Chandrasekharan, Chairman, Tata Sons and Mr Amit Chandra, MD, Bain Capital Private Equity. 

Additionally, Mr Luthra has also been appointed as member of a high-level advisory group in the Department of Commerce to make recommendations on pursuing opportunities, addressing challenges and finding a way forward on issues currently affecting global trade. The Advisory Group will be chaired by Sanjeev Sanyal, Principal Economic Adviser, Ministry of Finance.

In his new CSR role Mr Luthra's responsibilities will include: recommending guidelines for enforcement of CSR provisions; suggesting measures for adequate monitoring and evaluation of CSR by companies; and examining and recommending audit (financial, performance, social) for CSR, as well as, analyzing outcomes of CSR activities.
