Andreas Richter Named as Interlaw’s Lawyer of the Year
Andreas Richter, Senior Partner at Blumenthal, Richter & Sumet (BRS), Interlaw’s partner firm in Thailand, has been named as the networks’ 2023 lawyer of the year in recognition of his longstanding commitment to the elite global network.
Andreas, a veteran corporate and M&A attorney with almost 30 years of experience, has been involved with Interlaw since BRS joined the network almost 20 years ago, during which time he has played an integral role in nurturing relationships between partner firms, both within the network's Asia Pacific region and beyond.
He served on Interlaw’s Board of Directors for six years and has spearheaded several cross-border initiatives. These include a secondment program with the network’s Japanese partner firm Momo-o, Matsuo & Namba, the establishment of BRS’ “Japan Desk” as well as forging an ongoing strategic alliance with Interlaw’s Beijing-headquartered partner firm, Zhonglun W&D Law Firm, to better serve Japanese and Chinese corporate clients investing in Thailand.
Most recently, Andreas was instrumental in the organization and success of Interlaw’s 2023 Asia Pacific regional meeting, which was hosted by BRS in Bangkok, and marked the network’s return to in-person events in the region for the first time since the global COVID-19 pandemic.
Commenting on his award, Andreas said: “The award of Interlawyer of the Year is a particularly special recognition to receive, and one that wouldn’t be possible without the support of my Interlaw colleagues and friends across the world.
“Over the years, it has been a pleasure to witness Interlaw grow into the elite global network we are proud to be part of today. This year, it was a particular honour for BRS Lawyers to both host the first face-to-face event since the pandemic, and to do so during Interlaw’s 40th anniversary year. I look forward to many more years of working with our talented team and expert lawyers from across the world.”
