Pérez Bustamante & Ponce (PBP), Interlaw’s partner firm in Ecuador, has appointed Margarita Romero Rosales as partner in its intellectual property (IP) practice, strengthening the leadership and experience of its team.

Margarita brings considerable experience in managing the trademark portfolios of local and international clients in Ecuador, advising on regulatory issues in various industries, consumer protection, advertising law, franchise agreements and other areas related to the commercialization of intellectual property.

She was also appointed by the INTA (International Trademark Association) as co-chair of the Global Advisory Council for Latin America and the Caribbean (GAC), and is a member of the Professional Development Committee for the 2022-2023 period.

In addition, Margarita is the leader of the Patent Committee for ASIPI (Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property) and has been appointed as the sole representative to the WIPO Standing Committee on Patents SCP/35 in Geneva for 2023. She is also an active member of ECTA (European Communities Trademark Association) at the European level.
