Elite global network, Interlaw is continuing its expansion across Africa with the announcement that leading independent law firm Juridis, which is based in Port Louis, Mauritius, has joined its network.

Juridis is a full-service law firm working with domestic and international corporate clients, with a particular focus on assisting foreign clients investing in Mauritius or using the island financial services centre as a platform to invest elsewhere, especially, in Africa.

Led by founder and managing partner, Nilen Vencadasmy, and senior partner, Johanna Murugan-Crepin, it prides itself on providing global legal best practice combined with experience and insight across all major business sectors in Mauritius.

Juridis’ expertise spans multiple practice areas, including commercial and corporate law, project finance, banking and finance, insolvency and restructuring, financial services and compliance, fintech, employment, real estate, litigation and data protection.

Glenn Cunningham, chair of Interlaw, comments: “This year has seen Interlaw expand its presence across Africa, with new firms in Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire and Cameroon joining our network. The addition of Juridis in Mauritius, which is a highly respected firm that advises some of the most prominent businesses in the region, continues this growth. We believe that Nilen, Johanna and the rest of the team will be a valuable asset to our partner firms across the Interlaw network.”

Nilen Vencadasmy, founder and managing partner at Juridis, adds: “Mauritius is increasingly recognized as an established financial services centre and one of the African jurisdictions of choice for investment, structuring and tax planning. As such, we are proud to be part of and are fully committed to help develop Interlaw’s African strategy.  Coming from a global set up, we understand the value of being part of a global network like Interlaw not only in terms of opportunities but also, and most importantly, in terms of the increased ability to service our clients as a full-service law firm engaged in cross border, multi-jurisdictional transactions.”

Johanna Murugan, senior partner at Juridis, adds: “We are committed to providing our clients with a best-in-class service both domestically and internationally. Joining an established and highly regarded network such as Interlaw will provide us, and our clients, with access to some of the best lawyers in the world, and we are excited to collaborate with our international colleagues on future projects.”
