CASE STUDY: Milly Hung, Partner, Stevenson, Wong & Co., Hong Kong
Why did you want to be a lawyer?
I always wanted a career where I could act as ‘protector’ for my family and friends. Training as a responsible lawyer meant I could protect the legal rights of those I care about – my friends, family, and now my clients!
What was the best piece of advice given to you during your career?
“The life of a responsible lawyer is not easy at all. But the beauty to be found inside is more than you can imagine.”
What’s your best piece of advice to other women wanting a legal career?
Keep a balance between your family and your career, each can support the other with incredible force.
What has been your career highlight?
There are too many to mention! I am a litigator in both civil and criminal matters, and I specialise in commercial dispute resolution, such as arbitration and construction, internet fraud and shareholders’ disputes.
What are your future goals?
I have over 20 years’ experience working in the legal sector, across a variety of different areas of litigation. I would like to dedicate more time to sharing my experiences with the next generation - particularly mentoring young female lawyers who may have had a difficult path to realizing their career ambitions. Only by nurturing the next generation of talent can we secure the future of the legal system in Hong Kong.
