Interlaw has appointed Crystal Wong Wai Chin, a partner at Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill, the network’s firm in Malaysia, to serve on its board of directors.

Crystal has an active arbitration practice throughout Malaysia, Singapore and the ASEAN region, with an emphasis on electricity, conventional and renewable energy generation, water supply, and complex infrastructure & engineering projects. As co-head of the firm’s China Desk, Crystal has gained a strong reputation as a trusted advisor and leading solicitor to Chinese state-owned enterprises and other mainland Chinese companies investing in Malaysia.

At Interlaw, Crystal serves as Asia Pacific chair of the network’s arbitration and alternative dispute resolution special business team, working with colleagues around the world to provide multinational clients with cross-jurisdictional arbitration and dispute resolution advice.

Commenting on her appointment, Crystal said, “It’s a real privilege to take on this role as a director at Interlaw. I began my journey in the network through the NextGen affinity group and Arbitration & ADR special business team, and I’ve been lucky to learn from many generous and inspiring role models along the way. This appointment reflects the collaborative spirit and support that Interlaw embodies. I look forward to working with my board colleagues to highlight the amazing work happening across our network, especially in the Asia Pacific and growing ASEAN markets. There’s so much potential, and I’m eager to help us continue delivering innovative, award-winning legal services worldwide.”

Interlaw’s Global Chair, Michael Pattinson, commented, “As an engaged member of Interlaw, Crystal brings a fresh perspective and innovative approach to her work, and we couldn’t be happier that she has joined the board where her ideas and creativity can further support the network’s mission and goals.
