Johanna Murugan, Interlaw’s EMEA Director and senior partner at Juridis, Interlaw’s member firm in Mauritius, has been elected president of CCI France Maurice, the French chamber of commerce in the country.

CCI France Maurice is a leading business organization that connects French and Mauritian enterprises, supporting companies in establishing and expanding their operations in Mauritius while fostering bilateral trade and investment. Its core objectives include facilitating business connections, advising investors, promoting networking and knowledge-sharing, and providing practical support such as market entry assistance, partner identification, and professional training.

Johanna’s appointment reflects her strong track record across both the legal and business communities. In her role as Interlaw’s EMEA Director, she leads the network’s expansion efforts across Africa, strengthening collaboration and unlocking new cross-border opportunities, and has recently returned from an exploratory tour of several important African jurisdictions to meet with partner firms and clients.

Johanna is qualified to practice in Mauritius, focusing on real estate, financial services, cross-borders transactions, commercial and civil matters, and market entry. She is also heavily involved in several community initiatives, including pro bono work and teaching property law at the University Paris-Panthéon-Assas’ Mauritius campus.

Johanna said, “I am honored to take on the role of President of CCI France Maurice at a time of growing opportunity between France and Mauritius, and in general between Africa and international markets. I look forward to working closely with our members to strengthen connections, support investment, and build an even more dynamic and collaborative business environment, and see where my role as Interlaw EMEA Director can complement and strengthen the business and legal environment in Mauritius, and beyond.”

Johanna’s election underscores both her personal leadership skills and Interlaw’s continued commitment to fostering international connectivity, particularly across Africa and key emerging markets.
