Interlaw partner firms have worked seamlessly across three continents to support a prominent cross-border acquisition in the creative industry sector, underscoring the power of network collaboration on complex, multi-jurisdictional transactions. The transaction was announced as completed in January 2026.

Trowers & Hamlins in London, England, Jeffer Mangels & Mitchell in Los Angeles, California, USA, and Hicksons | Hunt & Hunt | Holman Webb in Sydney, Australia, advised interdisciplinary creative network Residence on their acquisition of creative agency OK COOL, delivering coordinated, end-to-end legal support for this strategically significant cross-border deal.

Founded in 2022 and headquartered in California, Residence has more than 600 staff across seven offices in Amsterdam, London, Los Angeles, New York, Sydney, Vancouver, and Vienna. The business supports creative talent across art, business and culture, and lists Airbnb, JP Morgan, Meta, and Microsoft among its clients.

Founded in 2016, OK COOL is headquartered in the United Kingdom and specializes in social content, with more than 100 staff across three offices in London, New York and Sydney. Its clients include Berghaus, Lululemon, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, Meta Wearables, Nike, Puma, Spotify, TikTok Shop, and Uniqlo.

The acquisition expands Residence’s capabilities across audience insight, platform strategy, always-on content, creator-led campaigns, social listening and real-time measurement, while strengthening its footprint across fashion, retail, travel, beauty, food and beverage, technology and entertainment. It also deepens Residence’s reach in Europe, the United States, and across the Asia Pacific region.

Due to the multiple jurisdictions covered, expertise spanning acquisition structuring, intellectual property, employment, pensions, real estate and tax was required across the transaction. The coordinated approach across multiple jurisdictions ensured a smooth process and consistent commercial outcomes for the client, reflecting Interlaw’s ability to mobilize trusted local expertise within a single, collaborative team.

Trowers & Hamlins partner Nick Harrisingh, who led the transaction, commented, “By leveraging the outstanding expertise and unbeatable local knowledge across Interlaw, we were able to support Residence with its next phase of strategic international growth. At each step of the way, lawyers from across Interlaw provided invaluable advice and support to completing this exciting acquisition for our mutual client.

Residence chief financial officer Wade Milne added, “This transaction was about moving quickly and confidently across multiple markets while protecting the long-term value of our business. The coordinated support from Interlaw firms gave us clear, commercially grounded advice at every stage of the process, helping us execute a complex international acquisition with certainty and momentum.
