Interlaw has launched its 2024-2025 annual training academy for its +8000 lawyers across the world, that will focus on the use of AI in legal services, with sessions delivered by global experts from Microsoft, Hyperscale Group, Artificial Lawyer, Thomson Reuters, LexisNexis and RSGI.

Designed to promote best practice and enhance knowledge and understanding of AI-related technologies, the eight-part academy has also been designed to help facilitate collaboration on AI innovation between partner firms, and will be open to all Interlaw partners, lawyers and professionals.

The American Bar Association is one international bar association taking a proactive stance on how AI is used in the delivery of legal services, having issued its first set of ethics guidance earlier this year. The ethical debate around AI is a key tenet of the Interlaw training program, as Neftalí Garro, board member and chair of Interlaw’s Latin America region, explains:

“Everyone has access to AI tools in their daily working lives and it’s therefore important for organization’s like Interlaw to provide guidance and training in best practice. This requires an agreement on what best practice looks like and it cannot be left to everyone’s individual interpretation of that. It is possible to achieve this, while being mindful of differing regulatory frameworks around the world.

“Our training academy has been carefully curated to provide our lawyers with the tools and strategies they need to confidently navigate the complexities of AI, looking at both the challenges and opportunities this rapidly evolving technology presents.”
