Interlaw’s partner firm in Chile, Cariola Díez Pérez-Cotapos, has advised the Inter-American Investment Corporation and the Inter-American Development Bank on a $125 million financing involving the Chilean stock corporation Engie Energía Chile S.A. for the development, construction, operation and maintenance of a renewable energy project which will replace the decommissioning of several coal-fired plants across the country.

The project is part of a wider shift in Chile away from fossil fuels, following its government recently launching its decarbonization program, which aims to completely replace coal with other sources of energy by 2040.

The team was led by banking partner Rodrigo Sepúlveda and included banking and finance associate Teresita Fernández, tax associate María Paz De Carcer and regulatory and energy associate Verónica Cuadra.
