Interlaw Welcomes Planned Merger of Korean Partner Firm LIN LLC

Interlaw is pleased to note the announcement that its Korean partner firm, LIN LLC, has entered into a memorandum of understanding to merge with D&A LLC, amid a trend of consolidation in the Korean legal market and strengthening Interlaw’s presence across the Asia Pacific region.
The proposed merger, formally agreed on April 29, 2026, is expected to be completed in October 2026, subject to final approvals. A joint Merger Steering Committee has been established to oversee key elements of the integration, including governance and the future name of the combined firm.
Upon completion, the merged firm will comprise more than 500 legal professionals, positioning it among the largest full-service law firms in Korea by both headcount and revenue. With combined revenues of approximately KRW 143.7 billion (US$105 million) in 2025 and a target of exceeding KRW 200 billion post-merger, the new entity is set to play a leading role in the Korean legal market, particularly in areas such as corporate advisory, litigation, and technology-driven legal services.
LIN Managing Partner Jin Seok Lim said, “While LIN has achieved strong growth as a dynamic mid-sized firm, this merger represents a bold decision to drive our next stage of development. By combining complementary strengths and shared values with D&A, we are creating a platform that enhances our ability to support Interlaw clients with deeper resources, broader expertise, and continued agility in a rapidly evolving legal landscape.”
The merger reflects a strategic alignment between the two firms, combining LIN’s recognised strengths in corporate and technology matters with D&A’s established litigation capabilities. It also responds to wider shifts in the legal sector, including the increasing role of AI and the need for greater scale and specialisation.
Interlaw Global Chair Michael Pattinson added, “This planned merger is a highly positive development for the Interlaw network. LIN has been an outstanding addition since joining in 2024, and this next step in their journey further strengthens our coverage in Korea and across East Asia. A larger, more integrated platform will enhance our ability to deliver seamless, high-quality cross-border advice to clients operating in one of the world’s most important economic regions.”
Interlaw looks forward to supporting LIN and its future combined firm as it continues to grow its offering and contribute to the strength of the network across the Asia Pacific region.
