CASE STUDY: Adv. Tamar Zehavi, Associate M. Firon & Co, Israel

Why did you want to be a lawyer?

I think the profession chose me. I was always very passionate and eager about things I cared for, and speaking out was always natural to me. I started the journey without being sure if this is what I wanted and as the time passed, I found myself enjoying the work even more knowing my opinion matters and that I have an important part in the success of my clients.

Cliché, as it might be, feeling the way I feel about my job, tells me I am in the right place.

What’s your best piece of advice to young people wanting a legal career?

The best piece of advice I received was never to be afraid to bring what I have to the table. You must always bring yourself, your ideas and thoughts and do not be ashamed to speak out because you think you are too young, or that you don't know enough or what you think won't matter. There is something unique in each person, and we should always bring that forward. Otherwise, we are nothing special.

What has been the biggest challenge so far?

My biggest challenge relates without a doubt to the previous question, and it is a matter of self-esteem. I realized I should always know my value and to consider myself worthy and valuable. I found out it is much easier for other people to appreciate you if you first appreciate yourself.

What are your future goals?

My future goals would be to gain as much knowledge as possible, to specialize in fields I am interested in, to be a part of big things and to know I left my mark.
